The G# minor chord
consists of one and one-half steps (from the note G# to the note B, a minor
3rd interval) plus two whole steps (from the note B to the note D#, a major
3rd interval). Therefore, the three notes that comprise an G# minor chord
are: G# + B + D#. This analysis holds true for all minor chords.
Notice that the spelling of the G# minor chord form in Figure 1 is G# +
D# + G# + B + D# + G#.
