The E minor chord
is comprised of one and one-half steps (from the note E to the note G,
a minor 3rd interval) and two whole steps (from the note G to the note
B, a major 3rd interval). Therefore, the three notes that comprise an E
minor chord are: E + G + B. This analysis holds true for all minor
chords. Notice that the spelling of the E minor chord form in Figure 1
is E + B + E + G + B + E.
Figure 2 represents an alternate
voicing of the Em chord. It replaces the high E with a G. |
