B Major Chord Analysis

The B major chord is comprised of two whole steps (from the note B to the note D#, a major 3rd interval) and one and one-half steps (from the note D# to the note F#, a minor 3rd interval). Therefore, the three notes that comprise an B major chord are: B + D# + G#. This analysis holds true for all major chords. Notice that the spelling of the B major chord form in Figure 1 is B + G# + B + D# + G#. 

Figure 2 illustrates a simpler fingering of the B major chord. Notice that the root note, or low B, has been omitted.
